Quincy
Sloan
Doing His Thing
You may have seen
him at the gym working out his triceps or maybe you’ve
taken one of his classes at Bakersfield College or you may
have seen his super hero alter ego and just didn’t know
that it was him. It seems like we see Quincy Sloan all over
this great city.
Quincy was born
and raised in Bakersfield, CA. He graduated from West High
School and afterward began taking classes at Bakersfield College
where he took Fire Technology courses and earned a certificate
in Fire Science, Associate of Science and a Bachelor of Science
degree from California State University, Long Beach. Quincy
is currently a Captain for the Bakersfield Fire
Department. His fire service actually began when he was 15
years old as an Explorer. Quincy states that his parents instilled,
in him, a strong work
ethic. Quincy has three wonderful sons Ethan 9, Elias 8 and
Evann 6. Quincy has been happily married for 10 years. Quincy
states that he works at the busiest fire station in Kern County,
BFD Station #5. Additionally, Quincy teaches Introduction
to Fire Protection at Bakersfield College as an Adjunct instructor.
What makes Quincy
different than most firefighters is that he is a working actor
and will star in the soon to be released Icon feature presentation
Infestation, a science-fiction thriller that is best described
as a combination of Aliens and Starship Troopers. Quincy has
also starred on the Sci-Fi reality show Who wants to be a
Superhero as Ty’Veculus. Quincy has completed
some small projects for Warner Brothers and the NFL network
in addition to other projects in the
works, such as: hosting a PBS type show and a reality show
that follows firefighters in different
fire departments.
Quincy’s
passion is to help people. So if you see him at B.C. tutoring
a young cadet, or racing
his fire engine to a Bakersfield emergency or travelling through
the night to save the world as super hero Ty’Veculus,
feel free to say hello and how much we appreciate all that
he does for his community in one way or another.
